Beer...the NEW mother of invention
WARNING: this post has nothing to do with social networks and it takes a stretch to apply it to Knowledge Management.
Tormented by poor scores and dared to make a difference, a Tennessee man has taken to bowling backwards. That's right, with his back to the pins, he rolls strikes and picks up spares. He's no longer the joke of his bowling league...at least not for his scores.
Though he is often "asked to leave" bowling alleys for "horseplay" (that's what bowling alley owners call his innovative activities) he now retains a very respectable '184' average (for the non-bowling-aficionado, '300' is a perfect score of 12 straight strikes). Through all adversity, the 'backwards bowler' continues to improve his average, motivated by his dream of appearing in a beer commercial.
I'm not a bowler or bowling fan (probably due to not being dared in my youth), but I do admire his willingness to try something different when the usual way is just not working for him...and while I have kicked a golf ball to improve my score, it appears that this guy has found a solution that does not actually violate the rules - it just annoys owners...there's a lesson in there for all of us. Think about it....
OK, that's enough.
BTW, I was going to try to overcome all technical barriers and post the video here on my blog, but alas, no beer commercial is likely.
